Interfaith Fair to showcase student organizations Sept. 3

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Center for Ethics and Religious Affairs (CERA) is hosting its annual Interfaith Fair (formerly First Sunday Open House) as part of Welcome Week 2013 activities from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, at The Pasquerilla Spiritual Center.

Want to meet like-minded people or explore a new religious or spiritual tradition? The Interfaith Fair features multiple religious/spiritual student organizations including the Latter Day Saints Student Association, Hillel, Unitarian Universalist Student Group, Catholic Campus Ministry, Adventist Campus Ministries, Orthodox Christian Fellowship, the Vedic Society, Silver Circle, Westminster Presbyterian Fellowship, Lutheran Campus Ministry and DiscipleMakers. Providing new and returning students information and resources on various religious and spiritual organizations at the University Park campus, the fair also offers a chance to meet students and/or spiritual leaders, learn about upcoming events including worship services, meetings and other programs, and become familiar with the Pasquerilla Spiritual Center, the largest multifaith facility of its kind in the country.

As a multifaith learning community, CERA manages the Spiritual Center and is charged with providing programs and a venue for the ethical, religious, spiritual and character development of the University community. CERA partners with various constituents, including University departments such as The Rock Ethics Institute, The Center for Women Students, Residence Life, The LGBTA (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Ally) Resource Center and The Office of Student Activities, as well as religious and spiritual student organizations like Hillel, the Lutheran Campus Ministry, Soka Gakkai International Student Buddhist Organization, the Muslim Student Association, the Vedic Society, and Westminster Presbyterian Fellowship, among others.

Additionally, CERA has created partnerships with the Interfaith Initiative of Centre County and the Interfaith Center of Greater Philadelphia to promote education and awareness of interfaith initiatives as well as social justice and ethical issues prevalent in our society. With a broad offering of worship opportunities, educational events and cross-cultural programs that enrich the heart and mind, CERA aims to celebrate differences and recognize similarities in a safe, supportive environment.
