Call for nominations for Innovator of the Year Award

The Penn State College of Medicine Office of the Vice Dean for Research and Graduate Studies and the Office of Technology Development invite all faculty, staff and students to submit nominations for the “Innovator of the Year” Award, an important part of the third annual Penn State Hershey Innovation Awards.

This year’s celebration will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 22, at the University Conference Center. The event will highlight innovators and entrepreneurs who represent a wide variety of departments. The program recognizes faculty who have had their ideas move forward through the execution of a licensing agreement, starting a company based on Penn State technology, or earning a patent between July 1, 2012 and June 30, 2013.

The “Innovator of the Year” is an individual who exemplifies innovation and entrepreneurship in translational research. Nominees for this award should have a demonstrated track record of developing new technologies, processes or services, and an entrepreneurial approach to translational research. The Innovator of the Year should collaborate with peers across departments and organizations to share knowledge and benefit others while actively participating in activities that support a culture of innovation.

Nominees must be employed by the Medical Center or College of Medicine. The “Innovator of the Year” will be announced during the annual Innovation Awards Ceremony. Contact the Office of Technology Development at 717-531-8496 or tech_dev_events@hmc.psu.edu for a nomination form. Nominations are due no later than Wednesday, Sept. 4.
