Orientation for new graduate students set for Aug. 21

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Penn State Graduate School will sponsor a half-day orientation for all new graduate students, including new international graduate students, from 1 to 5 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 21, in Eisenhower Auditorium. Sessions during orientation will cover topics such as using eLion and ANGEL, mentoring and graduate student life. There will also be a session on graduate student services and benefits, which include health insurance. All graduate students on any form of assistance administered through the University are automatically enrolled in the graduate assistant benefits program that will be covered during the session, and all new international graduate students are required to attend. A welcome reception will follow orientation at 5 p.m. on the plaza outside of Eisenhower Auditorium.

In conjunction with orientation, the Graduate Student Association will offer an optional one-hour campus tour at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21. The tour will begin at the main entrance of Kern Graduate Building and conclude at the HUB-Robeson Center.
