Associate Athletic Director Greg Myford leaving Penn State

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Greg Myford, Penn State associate athletic director for business relations and communications, is leaving the University. A Penn State graduate, Myford has accepted a position as associate vice president with IMG College.

“I will forever cherish my time at Penn State, dating back to my years as a student,” Myford said. “Not only did Penn State University provide me a world-class education, it also gave me more than eight years of career opportunities and experiences that prepared me for this advancement. I hope that I leave here having provided Penn State a fraction of what it has provided me and my family.”

"Greg has been a tremendous part of our team for the past eight-plus years," said Director of Athletics Dave Joyner. "We wish Greg and his family the best as he begins this exciting new chapter."

With Penn State's marketing plans in place for its fall sports programs, the timing of Myford's departure allows Penn State to conduct a thorough national search for a replacement, Joyner said.

"As with all positions in the department, our intention is to identify and recruit the very best candidate who can build upon the successful foundation for academic and athletic achievement we have in place," Joyner added.

Myford joined the Penn State Athletics staff in November 2004 and his broad responsibilities have included the general management of Intercollegiate Athletics's primary revenue generation and external relations.

From Grove City, Pa., Myford graduated with honors from Penn State in 1986, earning a bachelor of arts degree in broadcast journalism.
