Police report burglary in Hartranft Hall

In compliance with the “Timely Notice” provision of the federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Police and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1998 the University Police are giving notice of a burglary reported to have occurred in Hartranft Hall on the University Park campus of Penn State.

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- A burglary was reported to have occurred at approximately 11:35 p.m. Tuesday, July 23, in Hartranft Hall, which is located in the area of Pollock Halls, adjacent to Mifflin and Pollock roads.

Police are looking for a college age black male, approximately 6-feet 4-inches tall, with short black hair and a skinny build, who was wearing a green shirt with shorts; and a college age black male, approximately 5-feet 11-inches tall, with short black hair, a short beard and a stocky build, who was wearing a white shirt with shorts (possibly tan) and may have been wearing a white hat.

The victim, a student, reported that sometime between 11:35 and 11:42 p.m. a laptop computer was stolen from an unsecured residence hall room.

It can be assumed that conditions continue to exist that may pose a threat to members and guests of the University community. It is the duty of the institution to aid in the prevention of similar crimes on or near the campus and at affiliate organizations off campus.

Police urges the University community to lock doors and report any suspicious people in buildings.
