Young People's Chorus of Erie summer day camp set for Aug. 5 to 9

The Young People’s Chorus of Erie will hold its fifth annual Summer Choir Camp on Monday, Aug. 5, through Friday, Aug. 9.

This day camp is open to all youth ages 7 to 13 who have a passion for singing. Activities will include fun, fast-paced choral rehearsals and age-appropriate music theory classes and music-related guest presentations on instrumental music, movement, drama and the visual arts.

The camp meets from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Episcopal Cathedral of St. Paul, 134 W. Seventh St. The cost is $150, or $130 for current Young People’s Chorus of Erie choristers. There is a sibling discount of $15 for each camper, and financial assistance may be available. The camp fee covers music instruction, activities, snacks, supplies and a camp T-shirt.

The Young People’s Chorus of Erie is northwestern Pennsylvania’s youth and children’s chorus organization. It is an outreach program of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Penn State Behrend.

Camp registrations are due Friday, July 19. Campers need not be members of the YPC Erie to attend. For additional information or registration materials, call the YPC Erie office at 814-898-6789, email or visit
