Penn State Lewistown Center to hold information session for adults June 25

LEWISTOWN, Pa. -- Adults living in Mifflin County and surrounding areas who are interested in going back to school to finish a degree or to open up career opportunities are invited to attend a free adult learner information session from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, at Penn State Lewistown Center, 152 E. Market St., Suite 100, in Lewistown, Pa.

The drop-in style session will allow adults to attend at their own convenience and interact with representatives from Penn State Continuing Education on how best to meet their academic goals. Adults can learn about education programs available at the Penn State Lewistown Center, including the new basic and advanced accounting certificates and the registered nurse to bachelor of science in nursing degree for registered nurses. Financial aid resources for adult students also will be available.

“The information session is a great resource for prospective students, as they can speak one-on-one with staff from admissions, academic advising, student aid and career planning, as well as learn about the different degrees and certificates available in Lewistown,” said Penn State admissions counselor Cathy Kozak. “A person can drop in at their convenience and pick up some information to go, or stay and chat with the staff. We realize that our adult students are unique, and we work to address their individual needs. From helping them navigate the application process to understanding how financial aid works, our goal is to smooth their transition back into the classroom.”

Courses are offered during the evenings, on weekends and during the day, as well as online to accommodate adult learners. In addition, adults can find out about registering for courses, transferring credits and earning credits for their prior college-level learning.

Adults who cannot attend may call the number listed below to speak with a Continuing Education admissions counselor.
