Andrews named director of Office of the Board of Trustees

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Jeanie Andrews, assistant to Penn State's vice provost for Academic Affairs, has been selected director of the Office of the Board of Trustees, effective July 1. In this capacity she also will serve as associate secretary of the Board, as approved during its May 3 meeting.
 
Andrews, a 1990 Smeal College of Business graduate, is pursuing a master of public administration degree. Following graduation, she spent several years working as an employee relations and human resources consultant for a large insurance corporation. In 1996, she joined Penn State as an employee relations officer in the Office of Human Resources, and was promoted to assistant manager of that division in 1998. In 2007, she was named assistant to the vice provost for Academic Affairs in the Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost.

In her current position, she has advised senior administrators, deans and human resources representatives on academic affairs human resources issues including policy and guideline interpretation. In addition, she has facilitated administrative support for all executive searches reporting to the provost and president, and for the current search for Penn State's president. Andrews played a central role in the research and writing of the recent Middle States Commission on Higher Education requests for formal reports and information, including the September 2012 Monitoring Report.

She also has performed an important part in the University’s promotion and tenure process, serving as liaison with University offices and committees in interpreting policies and guidelines, and providing case-specific input and analysis for the provost and president. Presently, she is participating in two efforts to explore and implement technological efficiencies to improve the promotion and tenure process.

A 2004 graduate of Leadership Centre County, current board member and past chair of the Centre Communities Chapter of the American Red Cross, Andrews also was the 2001-2002 chair of the University’s Commission for Women.
