Musser earns All-America status in all-around and balance beam

LOS ANGELES -- Penn State senior Sharaya Mussercapped off a remarkable career on Friday (April 19) evening at the NCAA women's gymnastics championships. The captain finished sixth in the all-around in the session with a final mark of 39.450 to earn All-American status on the balance beam and in the all-around.

"After 30 hours of travel, lost luggage, a missed practice session, Sharaya finished her career with the best performance on all four events as a Penn State gymnast," said head coach Jeff Thompson. Her beam performance was the best beam routine she has done all year. She also had a great bar routine, was awesome on floor and stuck her vault. Everything that she could have asked for in her final performance, she delivered. She is thrilled she did so well, but disappointed she didn't make final. With how hurt her ankle was, she did everything we could have asked for."

Musser started off the meet on the bars, where she finished with a 9.875. She then followed with a stick on her balance beam routine with a score of 9.875. Following a 9.85 on floor, she capped off her stellar career with a 9.85 on the vault.
