Russell garners EIVA Offensive Player of the Week

UNIVERSITY PARK , Pa. -- Sophomore Aaron Russell (Ellicott City, Md.) was honored as the EIVA Offensive Player of the week, conference officials announced Monday. This is the fourth award of the season for Russell.

Russell helped Penn State to 3-0 sweeps of Rutgers- Newark and NJIT on April 19-20 to close out the regular season. Russell posted a team-high 17 kills, averaging 3.40 kills per set with a .542 hitting percentage. He also recorded a team-best 19 digs, averaging 3.80 digs per set, and aces with four (0.80 aces per set).

Against Rutgers-Newark, Russell was second on the team in kills with six and hit .625 after notching only one error in eight swings. He also led the squad in digs with six and was second in blocks with three. Versus NJIT, Russell tied for first on the team with 11 kills with a match-high hitting percentage of .500. He led all players with three aces and 13 digs, while adding two blocks.
