Grant recipients and authors honored at annual reception

Penn State Altoona held its annual Research Reception on April 16.

The reception honors those who received external grants and/or who have published books over the last year. Twenty-three grants and 10 books were recognized during the reception.

Rebecca Strzelec, professor of visual arts, was also recognized as the recipient of the Outstanding Achievement in Research and Creative Activity Award. She received a plaque, a monetary award and a medal.

External funding for research and creative activity continues to play an important role at Penn State Altoona. These funds are used to pay faculty salaries, student research assistantships, travel to conduct research and to disseminate results. It is also used to purchase supplies and equipment and to help fund the research infrastructure. The value of the college's currently active grants is $3,492,488.
