Research looks at changes in autism spectrum disorder diagnosis

Changes are coming to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. The DSM, which is published by the American Psychiatric Association, serves as one of the tools used by doctors to diagnose mental disorders. Dr. Cheryl Tierney of Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital has conducted research into how those changes may affect children with specific autism spectrum disorders.
