Alumni Association again launches 'Three Questions for the Candidates' website

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — For the second consecutive year, the Penn State Alumni Association today (April 4) launched its "Three Questions for the Candidates" website — http://pennstatermag.com/bot2013 — that includes responses from alumni trustee candidates to key issues facing the University. The initiative is aimed at helping alumni voters make informed voting decisions in the upcoming Penn State Board of Trustees election.

Thirty-six of the 39 candidates responded to three questions posed by the staff of the Alumni Association's Penn Stater magazine. The questions gave candidates the opportunity to address vital issues concerning Penn State's future. The questions are:

1. What should Penn State be looking for in its next president?

2. What changes or reforms should the Board of Trustees consider to help the University progress after the events of 2011 and 2012? Please explain why — or, if you don’t think reform is needed, please explain why not.

3. How do you define the role of an alumni trustee, and how would that inform the way you would approach your term on the board?

On the website, voters will find candidates' answers to the three questions, additional biographical information and links to the candidates' official position statements and their social media sites. The Three Questions site will remain available through the end of the trustee election, which runs from April 10 through 9 a.m. EDT May 2.

Additional details about the Board of Trustees and the upcoming election can be found on the Board of Trustees' website at http://www.psu.edu/trustees.
