Seven Penn State Hershey faculty members are Healthcare Heroes finalists

Seven Penn State Hershey faculty or staff members have been listed as finalists in Central Penn Parent magazine’s sixth annual Healthcare Heroes awards program. The program recognizes excellence, promotes innovation, and honors the efforts of individuals and organizations making significant positive impacts on the quality of health care in central Pennsylvania.

Finalists were selected by an independent panel of judges and will be recognized at a breakfast celebration on April 5 at the Sheraton Harrisburg-Hershey. The winner of each category will be announced at the breakfast. Also, every finalist and winner will be featured in a supplement to the May 2013 issue of Central Penn Parent magazine.

Penn State Hershey's finalists for this year’s Healthcare Heroes awards are:

  • Joseph A. DePatto – Emergency Medicine (allied health and emergency medicine)
  • Oralia G. Dominic – Public Health Sciences (allied health and emergency medicine)
  • Dr. Eugene J. Lengerich – Public Health Sciences and Cancer Institute (allied health and emergency medicine)
  • Dr. Leah Cream – Cancer Institute (breast cancer care giver)
  • Dr. Daniel S. Rifkin – Children's Hospital (pediatrics and pediatric specialties)
  • Dr. Jill P. Smith – formerly of the Medical Center and a College of Medicine professor emeritus, National Institutes of Health (physician of the year)
  • Dr. Serdar Ural – Maternal Fetal Medicine (women’s health and wellness)
