Volunteers needed to make Hershey look sweeter

Kiss Hershey Back! is a township-wide cleanup effort led by College of Medicine students to make the Sweetest Place on Earth also the Cleanest Place on Earth. This project was started five years ago by five first-year medical students who wanted to give back to their adopted home community of Derry Township.

This community-driven event is supported by the Derry Township Board and Department of Public Works along with local school districts, community organizations and businesses. Hundreds of community members volunteer to pick up litter and plant trees and flowers in Derry Township’s parks, near its greenways and along its rural roads.

This year’s event is planned for Saturday, April 27, and volunteers are needed. The day begins with a free breakfast from 8 to 9:30 a.m., and clean-up and planting will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at various Hershey locations. Visit kisshersheyback.blogspot.com for more information and to register.
