Russell tabbed EIVA Offensive Player of the Week

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Sophomore Aaron Russell (Ellicott City, Md.) was honored as the EIVA Offensive Player of the week, conference officials announced Monday (April 1). This is the third award of the season for Russell.

Russell helped Penn State to league wins against Princeton (3-1) and George Mason (3-2) on the road on March 29-30. He combined for a team-best 35 kills, averaging 3.89 kills per set with a .286 hitting percentage. Russell had a team-high four aces, nine digs and three blocks on his way to a total of 40.5 points.

At Princeton, Russell had a match-high 18 kills with a .324 hitting percentage. He served up three aces, tied for second on the team with six digs and tallied three blocks. Against George Mason, Russell again led the team with 17 kills, while also notching one ace and three digs.

Penn State hosts Lees-McRae on Friday, April 5 at 7 p.m. The team's six graduating seniors will be honored prior to the match. In addition, a silent auction will be held benefiting "EIVA Rallies" as well as a seated volleyball match between Wounded Warriors from Army and Navy.
