Guy, Mosketti earn ALC recognition

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- A pair of Nittany Lions received conference recognition as senior defender Katie Guy (Whitby, Ont.) was tabbed American Lacrosse Conference Defensive Player of the Week and freshman midfielder Jenna Mosketti (Fallston, Md.) was named ALC Rookie of the Week.

A Whitby, Ont., native, Guy collected six ground balls, four draw controls and five caused turnovers in two games last week. Against then-No. 14/16 Cornell, the senior collected two ground balls, two draw controls and a caused turnover before registering four caused turnovers, four ground balls and two draw controls in a 20-14 victory against league rival Vanderbilt.

In 2013, Guy, who earned ALC honors for the first time in her career, paces Penn State in ground balls (23) and caused turnovers (16), while ranking third in draw controls (15). The captain also ranks 15th in the NCAA in caused turnovers per game (2.0) and 22nd in ground balls per game (2.88).

Another first-time honoree, Mosketti garnered the league's rookie of the week accolade after excelling at both ends of the field against both Cornell and Vanderbilt. In the Nittany Lions' matchup against the Big Red, the Fallston, Md., native recorded three points (2g, 1a), as well as three ground balls, two draw controls and a caused turnover.

Against Vanderbilt, Mosketti produced career highs in points (4), ground balls (4), draw controls (3) and caused turnovers (3), while her three goals tied her season-best performance. For the season, the midfielder ranks second on the team in ground balls (13) and caused turnovers (9) and third in points (17) and goals (14).

The Nittany Lions will return to action Friday, March 22 when they visit Drexel at Vidas Field. Opening draw is set at 7 p.m.
