Annual 5K Run/Walk returns to Greater Allegheny

The third annual GA5K run/walk will take place at 9 a.m. April 20, starting at the Penn State Greater Allegheny Student Community Center and winding through Renzie Park. The event will go on, rain or shine.

Registration is $12 for students/kids and $30 for adults, which includes a Dri-Fit T-shirt, racer’s goody bag and post-race snacks. Packet pickup and on-site registration starts at 8:30 a.m. Runners will start at 9:15 a.m.; walkers will begin at 9:30 a.m. Runner’s High will be timing the event again this year. The registration deadline is April 1 if you want a T-shirt or April 17 online.

The GA5K run/walk was created to allow the students, staff, faculty and the surrounding communities to challenge themselves while serving as a contributing member of their community. All proceeds will benefit Sonshine Community Ministries. Sonshine’s mission is to be a place of hope for the hurting by providing clothing, food and counseling services to the homeless and less fortunate of the area. Penn State students, faculty, staff, friends and families are invited to participate. Register is available at http://tinyurl.com/psuga5K. Contact Tracy Gibbs with any questions or concerns at psuga5K@gmail.com or 412-675-9472.
