Tech Prep consortium picks educator of the year

The Penn State DuBois Tech Prep consortium wrapped up the 2001-2002 academic year with four special announcements made at the group's recent end-of-year session on campus. As representatives from its 34 member high schools and career centers looked on, consortium co-director Diane Gigliotti announced that Daniel Passmore had been selected the Tech Prep Educator of the Year. Gigliotti noted that Passmore was chosen for his dedication to his students and for bringing the Tech Prep curriculum to life in his classroom. "Daniel creates an environment where all students can and do learn," explained Gigliotti, adding, "He helps students see the bridge between what they learn in school and the world of work." Passmore, an instructor in computer-aided drafting at the Warren County Career Center, was nominated for the honor by Michael Hampsey, director of career services at the center. Hampsey praised Passmore for his use of technology to motivate and make learning easier, and his ability to inspire students by giving them freedom of choice in class projects.
