Women's Basketball to Return After 25 Years

After a hiatus of more than 25 years, women's basketball will return to Penn State New Kensington for the 2002-2003 season. The inaugural campaign of the Lady Lions will feature an 18-game schedule including eight double headers with the men. The Lady Lions will compete in two leagues -- the Commonwealth Campus Athletic Conference and the Western
Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference. Athletic director Bob Darby is in the process of hiring a head coach. The addition of women's basketball gives PSNK eight varsity sports -- men's and women's basketball, women's volleyball, baseball, men's and women's cross country, coed golf, and coed cheerleading.
