Alumnus to Head New Men's Basketball Program at DuBois

A well-known local coach has been tapped to head the new men's varsity basketball program at Penn State DuBois. Larry Salone, head junior varsity coach and varsity assistant coach at DuBois Area High School, has been named the coach of the Penn State DuBois team, which launches its inaugural season in fall 2003. The 2003-04 season will mark a re-birth of the basketball program at DuBois. The campus fielded some winning basketball teams in past decades, but has not had a team in many years. The new team will be playing Penn State campuses in the Commonwealth College Athletic Conference (CCAC), as well as other colleges in northcentral Pennsylvania. Salone, an alumnus of Penn State DuBois, said he is thrilled with the opportunity to return to his alma mater as a coach. "I am very happy to be coaching for Penn State," said Salone. "To have an opportunity to be on the ground floor of building a new basketball program is very exciting." For the full story, visit http://www.ds.psu.edu/UnivRelations/NewsEvents/coach.html
