DuBois Students to Participate in Powder Metals Research

Two Penn State DuBois students were among 13 selected from universities across the United States to participate in research projects that may one day impact this region's powder metals industry. Mark Young of St. Marys and Joshua Zucal of DuBois were chosen from more than 80 applicants to take part in the National Science Foundation Research Experiences for Undergraduates program sponsored by Penn State's Center for Innovative Sintered Products (CISP). The 10-week program was held this summer at the CISP lab at the University Park campus. "The campus is proud to have two of its students selected from such a large applicant pool. It is a testament to the excellence of our students and the engineering related programs at this campus," says Dr. Robert Loeb, director of Academic Affairs at Penn State DuBois. The program offered students the opportunity to develop effective research practices alongside faculty and graduate students working on the cutting edge of new sintering processes.
