Campus Awards Nearly $300,000 in Scholarships for 2002-03

Penn State DuBois has awarded a record amount in scholarships for the 2002-03 academic year. To celebrate the nearly $300,000 in scholarship funds distributed to students, the campus recently hosted a reception for recipients, their families and donors at the DuBois Ramada Inn. The event gave students an opportunity meet and thank the individuals responsible for funding their scholarships. Guest speaker was DuBois native Daniel Kohlhepp, a scholarship donor, campus alumnus and former president of the campus advisory board, who offered a donor's perspective. A few years ago, he and his siblings created the Kohlhepp Endowed Scholarship as a Christmas gift for their parents, Doug and Jackie Kohlhepp of DuBois. This year, two students received scholarships from the fund. "Scholarship recipients are just starting their careers and donors are in their careers, but we share the same values; both are investing in education to create a better world," said Kohlhepp. For the full story, visit http://www.ds.psu.edu/UnivRelations/NewsEvents/scholarships.html
