DuBois Holds Second Fall Commencement Ceremony

Good-bye students; hello alumni. Penn State DuBois celebrated the recent transformation of numerous students to the ranks of University alumni during its annual fall commencement celebration held late last month at the campus. William Curley, interim campus executive officer, conferred baccalaureate and associate degrees in the arts and sciences before a standing-room-only crowd assembled in the campus auditorium. "This ceremony recognizes the significant achievements our graduates have made," said Curley. "It's also a time to recognize our students' families and friends, for without their love and support our graduates' accomplishments could not be possible." Guest speaker for the evening was William Haering, assistant professor of engineering and recipient of the 2000-01 Educator of the Year award presented by the DuBois Educational Foundation, the community advisory board to the campus. "You are moving on to something new," Haering told the graduates. "An undergraduate degree from Penn State opens the door to opportunity, but it is your job to step through that door."
