Mazzante Ties BJC Scoring Mark with 38 Points in Win Over Old Dominion

Kelly Mazzante scored a season-high 38 points and tied the Bryce Jordan Center single-game scoring record in the process during the No. 13/15 Lady Lion basketball team's 81-74 win over Old Dominion on Tuesday night. Mazzante, who previously set the BJC scoring mark with 38 vs. Illinois on Feb. 15, 2001, tied her own mark by shooting 12-of-23 from the field and a perfect 12-of-12 from the free throw line. The Lady Lions (15-4) never trailed in the contest as they took control of the game early by racing out to a 52-35 halftime advantage behind 26 points first-half points by Mazzante. Her 38 points marked the 21st 30-point scoring effort of her career and her seventh this season. The victory improved the Lady Lions' record this season at the Bryce Jordan to a perfect 9-0 and extended their current home court winning to 13 games - which ranks as the sixth longest in Lady Lion annals.
