Softball Announces 2003 Schedule, Opens with Trip to Stanford

The Penn State softball team kicks off the 2003 slate in less than two weeks, opening at the Stanford Invitational, Feb. 14-16. The Nittany Lions, who are returning 15 letterwinners from the 2002 team, are out to make their fifth-straight trip to the Big Ten Tournament and fourth-straight NCAA Regional Tournament appearance. "We are looking forward to the start of the season and playing a great schedule. We have the opportunity to play some outstanding teams as we travel to Stanford, Tuscaloosa (Ala.), Florida and Charlottesville (Va.)," says head coach Robin Petrini. "The Big Ten season will be tough again with each team getting stronger every year. We look forward to the challenges of our schedule."
