Students Sign Up for First Summer in Spain Program

Penn State DuBois is preparing to kick off its first Summer in Spain study-abroad program with a full itinerary and a large enrollment. For four weeks starting June 13, Penn State DuBois students and their peers from across Penn State's 12-campus Commonwealth College system will experience the excitement of living in Spain's capital of Madrid as they take classes at the College of International Studies."I am very excited about the level of interest in this new program," says Deborah Gill, assistant professor of Spanish at Penn State DuBois. "This will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience our students will never forget." Gill created the Summer in Spain program to serve the needs of rural students who don't have an opportunity to interact with an Hispanic population. "Students must be immersed in a culture to build their language skills. This experience will also give them a better understanding of diverse cultures, too."
