Penn State finishes sixth at NCAA Wrestling Championships

The Penn State wrestling team continued its postseason surge Saturday (March 22) on the final day of the NCAA Wrestling Championships, as the Lions went 5-2 on the day and leapt from 15th place to a sixth place finish, the team's highest since 1999. Penn State junior Josh Moore captured a third place finish while his brother, Scott, and fellow junior Pat Cummins took home fourth and Mark Becks claimed seventh. The Lions posted 62 team points, the team's 10th highest total ever and best in five years. Oklahoma State claimed the team title, scoring 143 points and far outdistancing runner-up Minnesota's 104.5. Oklahoma was third with 78, followed by Lehigh (69) and Arizona State (65). Penn State's four All-Americans tied the University with Oklahoma for the third most among all schools, while Oklahoma State led the way with seven and Minnesota grabbed six.
