Student receives scholarships for study in Japan

Penn State junior Andrea Wolfgang of Catawissa has been named a recipient of both the Freeman-Asia Scholarship and the Bridging Scholarship for Study in Japan. The Freeman-Asia is awarded by the Institute for International Education and works to increase the number of American undergraduates who study in East and Southeast Asia. The Bridging Scholarship is awarded by the Association of Teachers of Japanese Bridging Project, with the goal to promote study abroad in Japan by larger numbers of American undergraduate students. A dean's list student since the fall of 2000, Wolfgang is a Japanese and East Asian studies major with a minor in international studies. This spring, Andrea took part in THON's operations committee. She is also a Japanese speaking-partner and has been a member of the International Language House, the Penn State crew team and the Pollock/Nittany Residence Association.
