Legislators attend campus meeting to discuss budget issues

Six area legislators or their representatives attended a recent luncheon meeting on campus to discuss cutbacks in state funding appropriations for Penn State. Representatives from Beaver and Butler counties were in attendance, along with members of the Penn State Beaver Advisory Board, the Business Advisory Board, the IST Advisory Board, campus staff and the president of the Student Government Association. The group discussed ongoing budget cutbacks for Penn State, and their widespread effects on campuses like Beaver. Hosted by Campus Executive Officer Gary B. Keefer and facilitated by State Rep. Michael Veon (D), District 14, the meeting was comprised of informal presentations and a question-and-answer session. The Legislators' Luncheon is held in the fall and spring of each academic year and provides campus and board members the opportunity to talk informally with area legislators who carry the campus' and the University's messages to Harrisburg.
