Continuing education offers financial literacy program

A concentrated five-day program designed to increase the financial literacy of 40 African-American high school students in grades nine through 11 will be held at Penn State McKeesport from Monday, July 28 through Friday, Aug.1. In its second year, the program is offered for students who are recommended by their church and school officials. Funded by the Heinz Endowments, the program will provide youths with a greater understanding of the nature of finance, and will increase their ability to manage their personal finances now and into the future. Lectures, games, simulations, and case studies have been designed to provide students with opportunities to apply financial principles and concepts to real-world events.
