Margaret Cho next in Distinguished Speakers Series

University Park, Pa. -- Margaret Cho, celebrated comedian and national bestseller, is the next speaker in Penn State's 2003-2004 Distinguished Speakers Series at 8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 20, in Eisenhower Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public, but tickets are required.

Tickets will be available to students attending the University Park campus on Oct. 13. Tickets will be available to faculty and staff and students from other Penn State campuses on Oct. 14. The general public may pick up any remaining tickets beginning Oct. 15, on a first-come, first-served basis. The Eisenhower box office is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Limited tickets might also be available the night of the speech.

Cho, who often performs to sold-out crowds, has garnered rave reviews for her 1999 off-Broadway show, "I'm the One That I Want," which has since been made into a movie. In 2001, Cho embarked on a record-setting 27-city North American tour with her new show, "The Notorious C.H.O.," which ended in a sold-out Carnegie Hall performance that will be released on compact disc this year.

Cho has received numerous awards for her work, including performance of the year from "New York Magazine," a MAC award and GLAAD's first-ever Golden Gate Award.

The Distinguished Speakers Series is sponsored by the University Park Allocation Committee, coordinated by the Distinguished Speakers Series Committee and the Office of Student Activities, and funded by student activity fees.
