Umoja festival: a celebration of fun and unity

The Black Student Union at Penn State Altoona will host its fourth annual Umoja Festival on Saturday, Nov. 15, at 8 p.m. in the Community Arts Center. This event is designed to showcase the diversity and culture that is alive at Penn State Altoona. The Umoja Festival is a night of expression focusing on unity, expressed through various speakers, vocalists, poets and dancers. More than 500 people attended last year's celebration. Umoja is Swahili for the word unity and is one of the seven principles of Kwanza. The celebration is free and open to the public.
