College offers ELL workshops to school district paraprofessionals

Penn State Harrisburg is partnering with the city school districts in Harrisburg, Lancaster, and York to enhance educational services for students learning English through a series of workshops for paraprofessionals. "The goal of the four workshops is to improve the abilities of paraprofessionals to help English language learners (ELL)," said Davida Irving, director of Penn State Harrisburg's English as a Second Language Specialist and Leadership certification program. The certification program for teachers began nearly a year ago with an initial focus of serving the Harrisburg, Lancaster, and York city school districts.
