Penn State Harrisburg alumnus earns National Educator Award

Christopher Mazzino was expecting an assembly honoring West Scranton High School for improving its test scores. What the 1993 Penn State Harrisburg bachelor's degree graduate with secondary education English certification got was a $25,000 surprise. The $25,000 came with the Milken Family Foundation National Educator Award, which he was presented with before the entire school community. The award is given to just 100 teachers nationwide, and Mazzino is the first Scranton School District teacher to be honored in the program's 18 years.
