Musical comedy to get staged reading at University Club
The University Club will be the hosts for a staged reading of the new musical comedy "Passaparola" at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 27, at the club building, University Park.

The production includes several University Park employees: Pam Monk, lecturer in journalism, librettist; Stacy Tibbetts, who teaches a writing workshop, composer/lyricist; David Saxe, associate professor of education; Martha Traverse, administrative assistant in the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences; J.D. Dawe and Lisa Kalb, undergraduates in the music-theatre program; and Matt Doebler, instructor of musical theatre, as well members of the local theatre community.

The cast will be reading and singing their parts from the script and score, in what's known as a "book-in-hand reading." The purpose of the reading is to gauge audience reactions in order to fine-tune the show.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children. Reservations are recommended and can be made by calling (814) 357-2394. Any remaining tickets will be sold at the door.
