All-American O'Connor takes Big Ten's weekly honors for track and field

Penn State senior Ja'Nai O'Connor (South Brunswick, N.J.), 2004 indoor track All-American and Big Ten champion, was named Big Ten Women's Track and Field Athlete of the Week after winning the shot put at the 2004 Adidas Raleigh Relays March 26. O'Connor's mark of 53-7 1/2 feet (16.34 meters) would have been the fourth-best throw in the nation going into the weekend. O'Connor holds the school indoor record for the shot put and has the second-best mark in school history outdoors. This is Penn State's first outdoor Big Ten honor of the season and the third total for 2004.
