Penenberg to address journalism ethics as focus of Umbaugh lecture

"Liar.com: Journalism's Ethical Dilemma" will be the title of a talk presented by author and investigative journalist Adam Penenberg at Penn State DuBois at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 14. "In journalism, technology can be a double-edge sword," says Penenberg. "Nowadays, vast literature databases and web-based search engines make it easier than ever to catch liars, cheats, fabricators and plagiarizers, but it also helps the unscrupulous cover their tracks." Support for the writer's visit to DuBois is provided by the Umbaugh lecture series, which brings eminent speakers on topics of science and technology to the campus. The public is invited to attend the event, which will be held in the Donald S. Hiller Building auditorium. In addition to his public presentation, Penenberg will spend the day on campus meeting with students, faculty and staff.
