Hershey Medical Center gets Connected April 25

After more than a year of planning and hard work, the next phase of Connected goes live on Sunday, April 25. Connected is the medical center's 10-year, $100 million commitment to create a state-of-the-art electronic medical record system that will enhance the quality of the care delivered, increase patient satisfaction and help recruit the most talented and dedicated staff.

Connected will provide nurses, physicians and other care-providers with instant and secure access to vital patient information. Ultimately, it will virtually eliminate the use of paper in the care environment and allow members of the patient-care team to generate orders and track all care information by computer - including portable devices at the patient's bedside.

The current phase — called Phase 1A — includes in-patient pharmacy, nursing documentation and medical records functions.
