East sub-campus construction causes road closings at University Park

Temporary road closings and detours will be occurring in the vicinity of the East sub-campus on University Park between now and August.

Curtin Road will be closed between Bigler Road and the Pasture Research Lab from mid-May to mid-August. Traffic and pedestrian detours have been established through the old parking lot 80 area and are clearly marked. This road closing will allow replacement of steam lines and installation of new water lines underneath Curtin Road.

Shortlidge Road between Park Avenue and Henning Building will closed to all vehicles from Monday, May 17, through Sunday, May 23. The one-week closing will facilitate installation and repairs to a deteriorating storm-drainage system. Some evening work may be necessary to minimize disruption at the intersection on Park Avenue.

Bigler Road between Park Avenue and Packer Hall will be closed from Monday, May 24, through mid-August to install a turning lane and new traffic lights on Park Avenue. Traffic and pedestrian patterns will change as existing traffic lights are replaced with temporary crossing lights and then new traffic lights.

Visit the Office of Physical Plant Web site at http://www.opp.psu.edu/const/newshome.html for traffic and pedestrian maps regarding these projects or call Paul Ruskin at (814) 863-9620 for more information.
