Penn State Outreach integrates Continuing Education and Distance Education units

Penn State Outreach has integrated its Continuing Education and Distance Education/World Campus units into a single Continuing and Distance Education unit. The new unit will streamline educational services, while increasing the focus on development and delivery of credit programming, including blended learning, across all Outreach delivery units.

Gary E. Miller, associate vice president for Outreach, will oversee both Continuing Education and Distance Education programs. Peter A. Rubba, director of Academic Programs for Penn State World Campus, has been appointed director of the World Campus in the Department of Distance Education/World Campus.

"The integration of Continuing Education and Distance Education is the first step in our strategic positioning process to create a new structure for Penn State Outreach," Craig D. Weidemann, vice president for Outreach, said. "Gary Miller's leadership will be invaluable in strengthening and expanding our Continuing and Distance Education portfolio of programs, and Pete Rubba will play a critical role in enhancing distance learning programming. Both will contribute to our mission of building a streamlined, efficient organization capable of anticipating and responding to changing education and training needs for the audiences we serve. This realignment of our resources will help us realize the full 'Promise of Outreach.'"
