Babies update: Sextuplets, quadruplets continue to progress at Penn State Hershey

Hershey, Pa. -- The Gosselin sextuplets and the Sweigart quadruplets continue to progress and are doing well according to Dennis Mujsce, medical director of the Neonatal Intesive Care Unit (NICU) at Penn State Children's Hospital, Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.

"Nearly all the Gosselins have been advanced to full diets of breast milk or premature formula," said Mujsce. The Gosselins have reached 33 weeks gestation. "In a head ultrasound performed recently, none showed any bleeding or brain injury. This is a very important finding."

The Sweigarts are at 32 weeks gestation. "The Sweigarts are doing extremely well. All are advancing nicely with their feedings," said Mujsce. "Anthony, the only boy, is on full feedings, but his sisters are just reaching the point where they no longer need intravenous nutritional support."
