Penn State display comes to New York City

Penn State alumni living and working in the Big Apple now have the opportunity to take a look at how their alma mater has improved lives and shaped the world without leaving New York City. This is thanks to a display placed in a high-traffic area near Grand Central Station.

The exhibit is located in the lobby of TIAA-CREF corporate headquarters at 730 Third Avenue in New York City and will remain at that location through Aug. 9. This space is known as the "Window on Learning" and is offered free-of-charge to all educational institutions participating in TIAA-CREF.

New York City is home to about 21,300 alumni living in the New York metropolitan area, covering parts of northern New Jersey and southern Connecticut in addition to New York City.

Following the theme of "Making Life Better," the display looks at some of the ways Penn State has had an effect on individual's lives throughout the country for the past 150 years. Penn State's year-long celebration of its 150th year anniversary kicked off on Thursday, July 8 on the University Park campus.

Heather Reese, visual communications specialist and designer of the project, and Kerry Newman, communications account specialist and producer of the project, both from the Department of University Publications, worked together to design and erect the exhibit.

New York City also played host to a sold-out Penn State event in March that included performances from students in the Musical Theatre Program and the Essence of Joy Choir.
