Remote access now is available for Penn State Hershey Medical Center employees.

Employees can now access Penn State Hershey Medical Center (PSHMC) information remotely both safely and securely, and are able to ensure patient privacy. All employees can access the PSHMC Infonet and Lawson Self-Service from home to view paychecks and other employee/benefits information.

Connected (Powerchart) and IDX information now can be accessed from home or anywhere there is Internet connectivity. For physicians, this access decreases the amount of time it takes to get patient results when away from the hospital; is helpful when they are called about patients while off-site; and is essential when they need to make clinical decisions remotely.

Remote access gives physicians the ability to check patient test results remotely online rather than by phone, and the capability to electronically sign documents from home. Remote access is another step forward in the rollout of the fully integrated Connected clinical information system. In the future, Connected … Remotely will give physicians the ability to enter and review orders, and view the entire electronic patient chart including the medication administration record, intake and output, and additional documentation.

Instructions and system requirements for remote access are located on the PSHMC Infonet at http://infonet.hmc.psu.edu/irtcomm/remoteaccess and questions can be sent to Connected@psu.edu.
