Hartz family career development assistant professor named

Patrick McDaniel has joined the Department of Computer Science and Engineering as the Hartz family career development assistant professor. Before coming to Penn State, McDaniel was a senior research staff member at AT&T Labs and an adjunct professor at New York University's Leonard N. Stern School of Business. His research includes systems and networking security. His work centers on the study of architectures and cryptographic constructions for securing Internet infrastructure and has led to efficient structures for Internet-scale secure address management and secure path discovery in interdomain routing. McDaniel received his doctoral degree in computer science and engineering from the University of Michigan in 2001.
