Nov. 9 last day for students in high-risk categories to get flu shots

University Park, Pa. -- University Health Services (UHS) has a limited supply of flu vaccine for Penn State students at the University Park campus who meet the CDC criteria for being at high risk for complications from the flu. Tuesday, Nov. 9 will be the last day for these students to get their flu shots. The cost of the flu shot is $20 and will be charged to student accounts. Students should call (814) 863-0774 to make an appointment with a nurse for a flu shot.

Chronic health problems that place students at high risk for complications include: lung problems, such as asthma or emphysema; suppressed immune systems; chronic kidney disease; and diabetes, heart disease or other long-term health problems. UHS will need verification of the chronic disease. It may include prior treatment at UHS for the disease, having submitted the information on the student's health history form, or providing a statement from the student's physician.
