Students to present HIV program at national conference

University Park, Pa. -- Six Penn State students who volunteer with the student-led HIV/AIDS Risk Reduction Project through University Health Services (UHS) will represent Penn State at a national conference this weekend (Nov. 6-7) in Tampa, Fla. They will be presenters at the Student Leader Conference sponsored by the Health Education Leadership Program (HELP) of the National Association for Student Affairs Professionals. Also representing Penn State will be Susan Kennedy, director of the UHS Office of Health Promotion and Education, and Tom Donohue, a Penn State alumnus who developed Who's Positive, an HIV/AIDS Awareness Program.

The students will present sessions on what they did through the HIV/AIDS Risk Reduction Project at University Park campus to increase awareness about HIV and educate students about how to protect themselves from HIV. They will also discuss leadership for healthy campuses and how to further the work of the Health Education Leadership Program. The students are James Hess, Stephanie Sharp, Jodi Simmons, Ryan Collins, Beth Hardy, Betsy Donaldson and Katie Kohler.
