Penn College students earn scholarships from 'Plastics Pioneers'

The Plastics Pioneers Association has awarded $1,500 scholarships to two students enrolled in Pennsylvania College of Technology's plastics and polymer engineering technology bachelor's degree major.

The association awarded 15 scholarships to college students nationwide who are working toward careers in plastics. Founded in 1942, the Plastics Pioneers Association is a society of industry leaders made up of 250 members who have been employed in the plastics industry for at least 30 years and who have made a significant contribution to the industry. The money for the scholarships, $22,500 total, comes from the earnings of a special fund based on contributions from members.

The Penn College students receiving scholarships for the 2004-05 academic year are Sean M. Stabler or Montoursville; and Ryan R. Romberger of Pillow. The scholarship program is administered by the Plastics Institute of America, based at the University of Massachusetts-Lowell.
