Delaware County student-athlete earns Egli Award

Hisham A. Rahmi, a junior at Penn State Delaware County with a major in urban education, was named the winner of the 2005 John S. Egli Scholar-Athlete Award. The Egli Award is presented to the outstanding male and female scholar-athletes in the University's Commonwealth Campuses. The award is named for Penn State's all-time winningest basketball coach. Rahmi was named to the dean's list and is the first athlete in campus history to have played every male varsity sport, including baseball, basketball, soccer and tennis. He also decided this spring to join the club volleyball team and has become a key player for that team. In addition, he is an officer in the Student Athletic Association, dedicating many hours to raise money for the annual athletics banquet, and a Student Government Association senator for athletics. Rahmi was a recipient of the Penn State Delaware County Constituent Society Award for Academic and Community Effectiveness. Established by members of Penn State Delaware County's Constituent Society, the award recognizes students whose work and activities have had a significant and positive impact on their school and community.
