Police, emergency medical personnel keep fans safe

Two important groups of people at every Penn State football game are the police and the emergency medical personnel. Both of these groups staff games from early morning until after the game ends, making sure those attending the game stay safe. Police and emergency medical personnel patrol the parking lots before the game, as well as keep watch inside the stadium during games. Both groups deal with a wide variety of situations. On foot patrols through Lot 25 before the game, Penn State Police Officer Vicki Aiken came across two tents that were completely blocking the travel lane, and directed them to move them to safer locations. Aiken and her partner, Matt Shupenko, began their foot patrol shift at 9:45 a.m. for the 3:30 game. For more photos, click the image above. Credit: Annemarie Mountz / Penn StateCreative Commons
